We already know that Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift wrote a song together on a trampoline for Taylor’s upcoming album Red, but now Ed is revealing some other unusual songwriting habits of his friend and collaborator.
“Taylor writes songs in all different situations,” Ed told MTV News. “I remember we went out. Where did we go? I think we were in the car to the studio and she took her phone out and mumbled something and sort of put it back. And I was like ‘What was that?’ and she was like ‘Oh, I was just singing down ideas.’ ”
But Ed finds Taylor‘s methods endearing, and gives her credit for having a passion for songwriting. “She does that all the time. It’s a good way to do it. She’s one of very few people left in the industry that actually worries about the songs that she sings, like she actually wants to write them herself,” he said. “Which I think is a very positive thing.”
The British singer/songwriter recently recalled how he and the country-pop singer met. Ed says he first learned Taylor was a fan after he noticed lyrics from his song “Lego House” on her arms during her Speak Now tour, and then Taylor‘s team visited one of Ed’s gigs. “Two days later, I got an email saying she had been a fan for awhile and ‘Should we write a song?’” Ed recalls. “So we hooked up and wrote two tunes, actually, one on the record and another that’s still out in the ether somewhere.”
