The cast of The Originals showed up to promote the CW series recently at San Diego’s Comic-Con and the 2013 Summer TCA Press Tour. Set in New Orleans – the show is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries.
Claire Holt shared a snapshot and wrote on July 29 – “TCAs with a couple of babes #theoriginals.”
Producer Julie Plec said on the TCA panel that where Diaries was a coming-of-age story, “this is a show that is not about struggling to be a vampire, it’s about embracing vampirism. It’s about reveling in it. … We’ve graduated high school and went to college, and they’re getting their master’s degree in The Originals.”
She added, “Put us in that decadent situation, and we have a lot more vampire parties and crazy indulgence. It’s like the Lost Boys: Party all night and sleep all day.”
Daniel Gillies couldn’t be at the panel because he was working on his Canadian medical drama Saving Hope, which is shooting at the same time as The Originals.
Plec explained on how he’ll fit in.
“We actually switched while there’s an overlap to a Wednesday-Sunday shooting schedule. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but we’ve found some fun and clever ways…we’re making it work.”
The Originals premieres Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. on the CW.
