Shailene Woodley has just landed a new movie role.
She will star in The Spectacular Now which is described as a dramedy. Variety reports the 20-year-old will play a teenage girl who changes an alcoholic high school senior’s life. The film is based on the Tim Tharp novel and will be directed by James Ponsoldt. It will be her first project after she was nominated for a Golden Globe for The Descendants.
Don’t worry – she’ll still be on television. Woodley recently spoke to MTV about her role as Amy in the upcoming fourth season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
She said, “There’s a lot of ups and down. I mean, she’s living with Ricky full time, so I think anybody who is confined to a small space, there might be some disputes, they might be a little bit tormented by each other for a while. And they have a 2-year-old son, so I think just the drama and the hardships of raising a child at any age, but specifically as a 17- and 18-year-old, there’s a lot of difficulty in that, but they find a way to make it through it.”
