We may be still trying to figure out who Taylor Swift is singing about these days, but we do know who she’s singing with – British singer Ed Sheeran. Both of them have confirmed they have a duet on Taylor‘s upcoming Red album.
On Thursday (August 16) Ed tweeted a photo of himself posing with the ‘Never Ever Getting Back Together’ singer and wrote, “Duet coming soon….” And during her live web chat on Monday (August 13) Taylor confirmed the collab and revealed that the pair wrote it –– while sitting on a trampoline.
Ed talked about the unusual songwriting circumstances in an interview with Rolling Stone. “We wrote a song on a trampoline, ate some apple pie and had a jam. It was very fun,” he says. “It came in 20 minutes, really. It was a really simple song to write. We just had two guitars and strummed it out. I’ve heard from everyone in the industry how cool she is; she’s got a very good reputation, but you never really realize what kind of person she is until you sit down and chat with her. She’s just a very warm soul.”
So how did the country-pop singer and the British chart sensation first meet? Ed says he first learned Taylor was a fan after he noticed lyrics from his song “Lego House” on her arms during her Speak Now tour, and then Taylor‘s team visited one of Ed’s gigs. “Two days later, I got an email saying she had been a fan for awhile and ‘Should we write a song?'” Ed recalls. “So we hooked up and wrote two tunes, actually, one on the record and another that’s still out in the ether somewhere.”
