The huge success of Lifetime‘s reality show Dance Moms has thrust all of the young students (and their moms) at the Abby Lee Dance Company into the spotlight. But dancer Chloe Lukasiak isn’t letting it go to her head – this 11-year-old is trying her best to live a normal life in spite of every jump and twirl being captured on camera.
Chloe spoke exclusively with Celebrity Teen Scoop about the show, her co-stars, and why – surprisingly – she would discourage her fans from following in her footsteps.
Celebrity Teen Scoop: Dance Moms has become such a hit. How has the success of the show changed your life?
Chloe: Well, it really doesn’t seem like my life has changed all that much. I still go to regular school, I still go to dance class, I still have chores and homework. Just now there are cameras around.
CTS: Share with us how you first became involved with the show.
Chloe: My mom send in an audition tape of my dancing and an interview. Then the producers came to the studio and auditioned all of us and the rest is history!
CTS: You’ve been dancing since the age of 2 – what are some of your earliest memories of performing?
Chloe: I remember waving to my great grammie in the audience when I was supposed to be dancing! I also remember competing in New York City from as far back as I can remember.
CTS: Is your dance coach Abby Miller as tough in real life as she is on TV?
Chloe: She’s actually tougher!
CTS: Tell us about your friendships with the other girls on the show.
Chloe: The girls on the show are my best friends! We are like sisters and I get to travel around the country with my besties!
CTS: What do you like to do in your free time?
Chloe: I like to read and shop! I also like to have sleepovers and play with my little sister, Clara.
CTS: Who are your role models?
Chloe: I look up to my mom! And the older girls in the studio are like my big sisters!
CTS: How do you balance working on Dance Moms, school, family and friends?
Chloe: I don’t know, I guess it’s just the same things I’ve always balanced, so I’m used to it.
CTS: What’s coming up next in your career?
Chloe: Well, I would really love to try acting! And more dancing, of course!
CTS: What words of encouragement can you give to young fans who might want to follow in your footsteps?
Chloe: Don’t follow in my footsteps, make your own! Just try your hardest and be the best YOU can be! And point your feet!
