Cody Simpson performed ‘Wish U Were Here’ from atop the Build-a-Bear float during the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thursday (November 22). The Aussie singer – whose ‘Paradise’ album is a huge hit – gave a shout-out to all of his fans after his performance tweeting:
“That was the most awesome experience. So much good feedback from my fans & my mates. #WishUWereHere at the Thanksgiving Parade!”
The 15-year-old recently opened up about something he’s experienced since being in the public eye – cyberbullying. “[It’s] is something that I experience online everyday, you know? Being a public figure a lot of people will really love what you do, but you know there is also a ton of people who will hate on it,” Cody told AOL Music Blog.
“People feel so much more comfortable bullying behind a screen than in person. It gives them a mystique and makes them say things that they would never be strong enough to say in person. And when people feel more comfortable behind the screen, they definitely take it much more extreme. But it still hurts the same way.”
